Grand Canyon

We left Albuquerque early, transferred kids to car and took off. Only Teddy remained awake and we got a solid three hours in before needing to stop.

Driving on the highway verses desolate desert routes was a relief and equally beautiful. The total drive was about 7 hours, two stops for gas and one purchase of jewelry in a parking lot.

After setting up, we headed out in search of dinner. We found a dive of a Mexican joint and enjoyed a few Pacifico's before hitting the strip in Williams.

If you didn't know, it's on historic Rt 66, the last city to be bypassed by I40 in 1984, and where the movie Cars was based. We had such a blast watching a western gunfight acted out.

Teddy learned to throw a whip like a cowboy (I have an awesome video of him working it) ...

...and then shopping the strip.

I believe that...the Grand Canyon is the most incredible thing I've ever seen! As everyone says, words nor pictures do it justice.

Today we were scouts, walking around the south rim and planning our next few days, searching out hikes and taking pictures.

That's Kristian, Annie & Kevin out towards the ledge. The fact that two teenagers were impressed speaks volumes!!

Wifi is HORRIBLE!! Be prepared for photo onslaught when we reach Vegas!!
