Running Shorts

I believe that running shorts were made for 12 year olds and they frustrate me to no end!  I am well into my third marathon training and down to two pairs of shorts that I began with five years ago.  I think they are soccer shorts, but are not holding up in this heat and humidity.  I have been searching and searching for new shorts and no luck.

  • New shorts are too short, I want 4 inch inseams
  • They are either way too small or way too big, nothing fits perfect.
  • They ride up in the middle regardless of how skinny my legs get.
  • They just aren't flattering from behind.
I would just go buy soccer shorts again, but they are not doing a great job releasing the sweat, so I come in after many miles soaked and chafed.

I will head back out this week in hopes to find something for this weekends 15 miles.  At this point I'd be happy with ONE pair, but who knows, maybe the Running Goddess have some pity on me!!

Summer Running

Summer is here and sadly, for me it's almost over.  I go back to work in several short weeks and I'm feeling pretty sad.  This is the best summer I've had for running, the kids are older and I am not losing anytime with them when I run.  Poolboy works on his marching band drill while I run which means we spend guilt-free evenings together at night.  I will miss the time I have now to run when I go back to school and have to cram not only my runs in, but the schedules of 4 other people.  However, it's all good.

I began this blog as so many other things and have come back to what makes me feel good.  Running makes me feel very, very good about myself!  It's hard sometimes, I absolutely despise getting up in the morning, but I love to sweat and feel the salt on my body.

Tomorrow puts me well into the second half of my Air Force Marathon training and while it's a little sad knowing that race day will find me well into the start of the school year, I believe that I will fondly remember my summer training.
