Today was another level of awesomeness. We Busted out of the campground in a grumpy rush to get to Slide Rock before they closed the gates. Not knowing how truly far we had to drive or whether where we were going was worth the rush left everyone with a little anxiety. The Europeans with their obnoxious daughters, eating breakfast outside my bedroom window at 6 am didn't help my mood. HOWEVER, Slide Rock was aMAZing!!
A natural wonder of cold mountain spring turning rocks into water slides rocked everyone's tiny world. The drive down the switchback road into the valley, the almost empty park and the rock climbing opportunities changed everyone's mood immediately!
Yes, that's Kristian on top. The park filled up quickly but they do close when lot is full so it never felt crowded. It was the perfect place to jump off rocks into the clear pools of water. Kristian & Kevin both jumped off the 20 foot drops many times and then Kristian bit the bullet and went off the 70 foot drop. I have no pics of that but did capture the excitement on video. We also spent a lot of time people watching!
After attacking a few bologna, salami & cheese sandwiches (which taste like crack to an addict after swimming all morning) we went back for a little more swimming now that the air warmed up. (yea from 75 to 95, felt good in that spring water)
Then a quick drive back to the canyon happy I was in a car going up the miles of switchback road instead of those riding up on their bikes in a bike race. Crazy.
